National Scholarship (NSP) 2026-27 –Last Date 31 Oct, Amount & How to Apply

The National Scholarship Portal (NSP) is an official online platform operated by the Government of India which assists students in finding and applying for various government scholarship schemes. It offers a single platform through which students can apply for scholarships, track their applications, have them verified and carry out other procedures associated with the schemes in question.
The aim of NSP is to make scholarship services more accessible and transparent so that eligible students may get financial help for their education in accordance with the rules of the appropriate scheme.

Key features of National Scholarship (NSP)

  • Scholarship search: Explore participating Central Government and State Government scholarship schemes.
  • For online applications: you can register and apply for the various schemes that are eligible.
  • Application verification: Applications are checked by the relevant institutions and authorities.
  • Application tracking: Follow the status of submitted applications.
  • Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT): Approved scholarship payments can be transferred to beneficiaries’ bank accounts according to the scheme rules

Let’s be honest. Every year, students ask us: “Sir, UP Scholarship bhar diya – kya NSP bhi bhar sakte hain?” And cyber cafes happily fill BOTH forms and charge double – then both get rejected.

Application Process – How to Apply on scholarships.gov.in Correctly (Step-by-Step)

    Two parts:

    1) OTR once , 2) Scheme application + institute verification. Both compulsory.

    Part A: OTR Registration (Compulsory)

The one-time registration (OTR) produces a unique 14-digit number which is associated with your Aadhaar.

    1. Download the NSP OTR app and the Aadhaar Face RD app from the Google Play Store on an Android phone, or start by clicking on ‘Apply for One Time Registration (OTR)’ at scholarships.gov.in.
    2. Open the app, grant the necessary permissions, and read the registration guidelines.
    3. Please enter your Aadhaar number or Aadhaar Enrolment ID (EID).
    4. Check the one-time password that has been sent to the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar and enter the captcha.
    5. Finish the e-KYC process using face authentication by sitting in a place with good lighting and a simple background, making sure that your Aadhaar biometrics are unlocked in the mAadhaar app.
    6. Enter the basic details asked for, such as the names of your parents and your email address, since several of the fields are automatically retrieved from your Aadhaar record
    7. Make a strong password and then submit the form. You will receive your individual 14-digit OTR number by SMS and email; be sure to save it, since it will act as your permanent User ID for all future logins and any applications on the portal.
Part B: Scheme Application + Verification (Official Process)
    • Step 1: Log in with OTR & Select YOUR Scheme
Log in and complete the application form by selecting the academic year 2026–27 and choosing a scheme (only schemes matching your profile will appear). Please read the scheme guidelines PDF.
    • Step 2: Fill + Upload Documents
Fill in the institute, course, admission date, fees, and bank details (using your Aadhaar-seeded account). Upload these: Aadhaar, domicile, caste/income certificates, last marksheet, bonafide/admission proof, fees receipt, bank passbook, disability certificate (PwD), and a photo. Only scanned copies are required.
    • Step 3: Final Submission & Print
Preview the spelling of the name, the bank account, the IFSC, and the scheme name. Make sure that you submit the application before 31 October 2026 and then print it. Provide a copy to your institute’s nodal officer.
    • Step 4: Institute Verification (by 15 Nov) + District/State (by 30 Nov)
The college or school will carry out the online verification, after which the district or state authority will approve it. After having applied, go to your nodal officer in person about 3 to 4 days later – the main reason why the NSP forms fail is due to the pending institute verification. Then monitor the status: Submitted → Verified → Approved → Payment.

FAQs – National Scholarship (NSP) 2026-27

    1. What is NSP Scholarship 2026-27 last date?
31 October 2026 for most schemes (Post-Matric, MCM, Top Class, AICTE, UGC, ICAR, CSSS Fresh and others). NMMS, PwD Pre-Matric, Beedi/Cine pre-matric and some renewals (CSSS, J&K) closed on 30 Sept 2026. Institute verification by 15 Nov, district/state by 30 Nov 2026.

    2. What is the official NSP website?
Only https://scholarships.gov.in. Type it yourself – never click scholarship links from WhatsApp/Telegram/YouTube comments. Fake sites steal Aadhaar + bank details.

    3. What is National Scholarship OTR and is it compulsory?
One-Time Registration – a permanent 14-digit ID based on Aadhaar + face authentication, compulsory for all applicants. Generate once via the NSP OTR App/portal, use every year for fresh and renewal.

    4. Can I apply for both NSP and UP/state scholarship?
No – for the same course in the same academic year you can avail only ONE scholarship (Central or State). Double applications get detected during verification and both can be rejected. Compare amounts and apply on the better portal.

    5. How to check NSP application/payment status?
Login to scholarships.gov.in with OTR > Track Application Status. Stages: Submitted → Verified by Institute → Verified by District/State → Approved → Payment done. Also check DBT status and keep your bank account active with Aadhaar seeding.
